The Petabyte Age

June 24, 2008

I love wired magazine because they make insights that once read, are perfectly obvious. But until then, are totally unrecognized. For example, see their recent write-up on the Petabyte Age (http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/magazine/16-07/pb_intro). Basically, the premise is that we have collected, and are continuing to collect, so much data that science as we know it will soon be dead. Soon, instead of formulating hypothoses and testing them, we’ll be able to aggragate and sift data to find answers and seed models.
